The Quiet Place...

When you trust in God, you cease from fear, clamour, anxiety, complaints, anger; you watch people fret, argue, quarrel, threaten, knock themselves out. But you rest in peace, smiling inside, assured that in the end, God's ultimate will will be done, whatever it may be....

Unbelievable... our Civic Leaders

So our Civic leaders will vote 'yes' to the Constitution proposal if their pay is hiked and 'no' if not, their indication, not mine. Oh dear..., whatever happened to principles? How can decision on such an important document be based on 'show me the money'? God have mercy.... Maybe the change in how Counties are run is perfectly justified, and with this kind of attitude maybe the reins should be tightened.

Lunacy!

Recently as we drove to Mombasa, it dawned on me that some motorists will cause accidents deliberately, regardless of the consequences, who lives or dies, who survives or gets maimed. We were on our lane, the left (that’s the Kenyan way, isn’t it?), when one car simply pulled out from between a line of trucks from the opposite direction, even though there wasn’t much distance between us.

One would think on realizing he couldn’t overtake in time he would slow down and try to go back to his lane, but he didn’t. He kept coming, at quite high speed too, and we, though we had the right of way, had to swerve to the pavement to avoid a head on collision with the mad driver. And he drove off like nothing had happened.

So what if there had been no pavement, but a cliff instead? What if a cyclist had been on the pavement? What if a matatu had decided at that moment to use the pavement as a way of beating the jam? I shudder to imagine all the scenarios that could have meant an accident for sure.

Kenyans motorists, please, let’s show some respect for life. It’s not a rehearsal. Beyond here it’s a totally different ballgame!

Countdown to Referendum

As we all gear up for the Constitution referendum, we can’t help but wonder what will happen, how is it going to go? I just can’t beat the feeling we didn’t do enough to gain real consensus before this crucial step. Well, we’ll see, won’t we? My prayer, God give this country the right Constitution…. And that very soon…
